Week 14. Empowerment :Thinking future

It is selfish and wrong for anyone to think that he is eternal. As long as this earth exists, there is time for everything. This week I have learned that it is important for a true servant leader to empower others. To raise, or train others to become servant leaders too. He can start by empowering himself through books, seminars amongst others. It will be better if in a team, people are empowered as need be. Not to empower the same people year in year out.

Week 15. Good success: The winning team.

This week, I learnt that I  must be keen on getting direction from God about where I'm taking my team to concerning all aspects. Daily study God's words or seek His word when at any junction of decision. Be accountable . know that who I am as a leader in the spirit I am passing on to those I am leading. Also, be accountable to my authority(ies). Never assume that they know where we are going in relation to goals. Constantly telling them. Tell my people I believe in them and act it passionately pursue the vision. Adapt for the better cause.

Week 16. Prioritisation :Putting first things first.

God gave us 24hours a day. Just thinking of these hours, takes my mind to the parable of the talents(Matthew 25:14-30). The master gave talents to each servant according to his ability, but each of them had the same amount of time to put the talents to use.  We all have 24hours a day, what makes the difference is how we use this time, given to us with regards to planning, goal setting and execution.  From this week's lesson, I have learnt that it is important to plan and have a well written time management quadrant. It enables goals to be achieved better and on time thus making life less burdensome.

Week 17. Discipline : Overcoming stagnation

This week, I learnt that as a leader, it is important to have a scale of preference and watch out for time-wasters. Writing out a weekly plan and sharing with someone helps keep you on check. Teamwork is great as a leader.  Learning something new adds to knowledge and keeps a leader informed not only about his daily routine but a balance in other spheres of life.

Succession : Pass on the baton. Week 21

Every good "leader parent" goes out there, learns useful habits and things about improving on the family and brings these values home to his team with the aim of making the home better.  Passing on the baton is a very vital aspect of leadership. It's not just enough to run the race, but to run understanding from the beginning that leadership is principally a relay race. Leaders don't just pass the baton to everyone following them, if not, even Jesus would have had a crowd of disciples.  Jesus had just 12. He understood that a successful and fulfilled leader is one who looks back and sees his people running with the vision with the same understanding and zeal or better. That is why, succession requires talking to God first, then training the chosen.

Signposts

During week 20 of this training, I had one of my best lessons: The ultimate goal of servant leadership.  As a servant leader, you can become a more effective signpost pointing people to the light of the world, Jesus. - Letting your life be a bible for others to read. - Working to please God- follow His instructions and always going back to His goals and vision for every instruction or mission He gives you.  - Checking your motives every step along the way. This week's lesson made me examine my walk, if I have effectively used every opportunity to point people to Jesus. How well I have passed on same lesson to my team.  Team 21 servant leadership week 20's topic on Signposts is actually the ultimate goal for servant leadership. All we are or have become is thanks to God. He assigned us. It is just right to lead according to His manual. Be selfless and follow the main and greatest servant leader, Jesus. Jesus always pointed us to the father, and if leadership ...

Resilience: Preparing for dark days.

As a servant leader, there will be low moments, there will be times when all seem dark. During such moments, it's not the time to give up. It is the time to dig deep into God's promises to us and build that resilience. God's word has several promises to us.  For example, He promised to be with us all the way as seen below Isaiah 43:2 I will be with you, when you go through (dangerous) waters. And when you go through rivers they will not carry you away. When you walk through fire it will not burn you. And the fire will not make a fire out of you. This week's study about Resilience, preparing for dark days makes us understand that life has it's high and low moments. When faced with challenges or low moments, we should not avoid or run away from it. Realising that we are in our dark days, and seeking help by getting to the root cause is very important. Above all,  seeking God's solution and strength to move on is vital.
